Meet the Ladies Behind SpaVela!

Luane McWhorter and Stacey Maness are business owners, active community members, mothers, and lovers of all things wellness and beauty. While the two have been friends since 1998, their business partnership began in 2004 when they opened Sutera Spa right here in Flower Mound, TX.

After more than 10 years of growing Sutera into the success it is today, Stacey and Luane embarked on their newest journey together, SpaVela. A shared idea for a resort-style Med Spa combined with the rapidly growing Lakeside DFW, Luane and Stacey eagerly opened the doors of SpaVela in October 2020.

Meet The Team

Patricia K.

R.N. Aesthetics Injector

Patricia is an RN licensed in Texas for the past 13 years with over 8 years surgical and injector experience in the aesthetics industry.

Patricia’s passion for dermal fillers and neuromodulators provides each client a personalized proposal that delivers beautiful outcomes. Her knowledge and qualifications in dermal fillers and neuromodulators includes but is not limited to Allergan Products such as Juvederm, including Voluma, and Botox naming a few, and Dysport; Galderma’s Restylane Kysse and Sculptra.

She enjoys educating her patients on the process of collagen stimulation and regrowth with PRP treatments. She is also highly trained in medical grade skin care, such as Skin Better Science and iS Clinical.

Patricia stays busy taking care of her patient’s as well as staying up to date on the newest technology and techniques with continuing education; however, she still finds time for her two spoiled fur babies; “Cody” and “Heart”. In addition, she volunteers in animal rescue and works diligently to find loving, safe homes for the rescues.

Karyn B.

Dual-licensed Karyn Barrett previously worked in corporate America in sales administration, where high stress led her to work in the spa industry. She acquired two college degrees before obtaining her two state aesthetics licenses: esthetician, and, professional laser hair removal technician (the top tier of laser licenses).

Karyn’s lifelong passion for fitness and nutrition spill over into skincare, because she believes how we treat our bodies is as important as what we topically apply to our skin.

As an esthetician, she loves educating, pampering, and helping her clients obtain or enhance their skin through stress reduction and excellence in skin care, including full body scrubs and wraps, as well as laser hair reduction, laser resurfacing, and laser acne/pigment/anti-aging care.

Karyn’s credo is skin care is no longer just “a luxury”, but rather a necessity. She looks forward to providing you with an exceptional experience, whether it is to make a change in your skin, or melt away stress.

Hi my name is Amber, I am a Licensed Aesthetician and social media manager at SpaVela! I attended Aveda Institute in 2019 and completed the program by 2020. I have been in the beauty industry for 6 years now, starting in retail and receptionist positions I was able to work and train with master aesthetician’s and medical grade skincare brands before attaining my license. Skincare has been my passion, and seeing the changes it can make with my clients in their day to day lives has been amazing and inspiring!

It is so incredibly important to me to spend real time getting to know the people who come to see me – this way I am able to create thoughtful and ethical treatment plans to help them achieve their ultimate skin health and aesthetic goals! I hope to further my education by attending laser school this year!

I am originally from England and have lived in 5 countries and have travelled to at least 26! I now enjoy spending my free time at home with a book and cuddling my cats Mochi and Tink!

Gwen is fluent in various massage techniques and specializes in energy cleansing, providing a rejuvenating and holistic experience for her clients.

With more than 22 years in the spa industry, Amanda brings a rare blend of experience, intention, and elevated client care to every treatment. Her career began in the laundry room and progressed through front-of-house leadership and spa management, giving her a deep understanding of what creates a truly exceptional aesthetic experience. Now a licensed esthetician and laser technician, she focuses on thoughtful, high-performance skincare that delivers visible transformation while maintaining a luxe, calming environment.

Amanda offers curated services designed to support long-term skin health, confidence, and natural radiance. Known for her warm energy and attention to detail, she creates an experience where clients feel both cared for and beautifully refined.

Amanda is married with four energetic kids—three girls and a boy—who keep life joyful and busy. When she’s not in the treatment room, you can usually find her mom-ing at a trampoline park, exploring the aisles of Target or HomeGoods, or grabbing Mexican food or pizza with her family. Nostalgic early-2000s music is her happy place, and she brings that same upbeat, welcoming vibe into her work every day!

Betty Jo is a Guest Relations Coordinator at Spavela. Betty Jo is dedicated to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere from the moment clients walk through the door. She prides herself on ensuring every visit is seamless, from efficient check-ins to scheduling appointments and answering questions about our wide range of services. Her goal is to ensure every client feels valued, comfortable and excited about their experience at the spa. She loves to share information about her favorite treatments and products to our clients to know the amazing results.

Heather’s commitment is grounded in her faith and family, which serve as her guiding purpose. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, practicing yoga and spending quality time with her family. Ideally outdoors with sunshine and good music.
